Reuploading datapoints of trip make details identical

Postby Polyphemus » Sun Jul 15, 2012 9:46 pm

Hi! very enthousiastic about the functionalities of this app, I'm trying to fill a Mysql database with data.

To my surprise I've found the following bug (or at least I think it's a bug).

When tracking live, the tripdata is incremental, as the column descriptions describe:

Code: Select all
11   15-07-12 19:37_trip   6865.46   5363   181   2012-07-15 21:07:08

Code: Select all
11   15-07-12 19:37_trip   6914.13   5397   183   2012-07-15 21:07:40

Code: Select all
11   15-07-12 19:37_trip   6954.53   5427   184   2012-07-15 21:08:12

But when reuploading the same trip the data becomes:

Code: Select all
11   15-07-12 19:37_trip   6954.53   5427   184   2012-07-15 21:08:12

Code: Select all
11   15-07-12 19:37_trip   6954.53   5427   184   2012-07-15 21:08:12

Code: Select all
11   15-07-12 19:37_trip   6954.53   5427   184   2012-07-15 21:08:12

So the tripdetaildata becomes the same (and not incremental) as the last entry. The point details are still correct.

Hi Polyphemus,

Thank you for your details on what you think is a bug and really sorry for the delays in getting back to you. We are working on the application update and we are checking all the suggestions and reports and we found we miss to answer you in this topic.

When we send the Travel or Trip information in the XML to the server it contains all the latest details of the trip such total length and time up to date to the latest instant. So in real time upload the total distance and total time will looks incremental as the trip is actually "growing" up in time and length.

But when it is uploaded directly in offline mode, the total time and length will be constant to the latest trip information. The upload in offline mode is done in batch of about 20 or 40 points at time, so you may receive different times the same trip information.

The important thing is to know the relative values, you can check the fields tdist, rdist and ttime for each point. tdist and ttime are the total distance and total time for the trip at that point (there you can get the information in incremental format), rdist is relavtive distance. Is the distance of that point against previous point.

So basically the incremental information you can get it from the points within the trip. The trip information should only be used as absolute information.

I hope that clarify the information.

Thank you! If you have any other question please let us know!
